Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Can we send in the enrollment for coverage without a payment?
A:  The Gross Premium and the Policy Administration Fee is due on or before the effective date for non-audited policies.  For audited policies, the Minimum Premium and the Policy Administration Fee are due on or before the effective date.  SMIC now accepts Credit Card payments. 

Q:  Do we have to submit the audit form before and after the activity?
A:  No, you can submit a final audit form at the end of your activity/event.

Q:  How often do the completed audit forms need to be submitted?
A:  Depending on your activities/events schedule, audits can be submitted either weekly, monthly or quarterly.  Final Audits and any premium due will need to be submitted within 2 weeks of the last day of the last activity/event.

Q:  Is Medical Evacuation and Repatriation available?
A:  Medical Evacuation and Repatriation is available on our Blanket Tour policies.  Please Contact Us for details.

Q:  What is the difference between Full Excess coverage and $100 Primary Excess coverage?
A:  Full Excess:  Benefits are payable for covered expenses that are not recoverable from any other insurance policy, service contract or workers’ compensation.  $100 Primary Excess:  Benefits are payable for the first $100 of covered expenses, without regard to other insurance. Thereafter, benefits are payable for covered expenses over $100 that are not recoverable from any other insurance policy, service contract or workers’ compensation.

Q:  What kinds of activities are considered Work Activities?
A:  Work Activities include remodeling, dry walling, plastering, roofing, plumbing, brick and block laying, electrical work, concrete work, and using scaffolds, ladders, and power or chain saws.

Q:  What kinds of activities are considered Adventure Sports?
A:  Adventure Sports include mountain climbing, rappelling, spelunking, whitewater rafting, whitewater canoeing, wind surfing, jet skiing, scuba/skin diving, rodeo participation and Paintball.

Q:  What kinds of activities are considered Snow Sports?
A: Snow Sports include downhill skiing, bobsledding, snowmobiling, snow boarding, tobogganing, and tubing.

Q:  Under my Daycare policy, do I count all the children or can I use an average daily attendance figure?
A:  The Daycare policy is a mandatory policy which means that all participants, regardless of the number of days participating, must be counted and premium received for.  Average daily attendance is not accepted.
